Support Encounter to keep dreaming bigger
Our work is impossible without the generous support of people like you, and to support Encounter also means to support the diverse community of performers and creatives that surrounds us. Your donation, big or small, will allow us to continue creating rich, culturally significant stories that speak to the lived experience of contemporary Australia, and advocating for positive change and equity within the arts sector. We invite you to join our community of supporters by making a tax-deductible donation.
But right now, the voices of minority creatives, including those from First Nations, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) and other underrepresented communities, who are most equipped to inject new ideas and perspectives into our cultural landscape, are facing entrenched, systemic barriers that prevent them from accessing pathways to leadership.
Financial and language obstacles, institutional racism and industry gatekeeping continue to hold them back, limiting opportunity and silencing perspectives that our sector and society need.
As a result, WA’s cultural sector is losing talented mid-career directors and cultural leaders, who are forced to look elsewhere for opportunities.
Without a system to support and champion these voices, we risk losing not only a generation of visionary leaders but also the intercultural connections they create in our communities.
