About the Program

The Screenwriting Group prepares a new slate of screenwriters with the tools they need to bring powerful, authentic works into the world, taking their craft from the stage to the screen.

Selected theatre writers will join a group facilitated by award-winning writer Jesse Laurie to adapt their scripts for the screen, including mentorship and information on Screenwest funding rounds and how to prepare scripts for pitching.

The group will meet for six Saturday morning workshops, running from 20 September to 25 October, with the option to attend in person or online.

For this opportunity, we’re seeking theatre makers who already have a completed script ready to adapt to a screenplay. CaLD and First Nations theatre makers are especially encouraged to participate.

Expression of Interest period closes Monday 15 September.
