Play Reading Group is an open, welcoming space for anyone curious about contemporary plays. Together, we’ll read and discuss plays that explore themes of identity, belonging, and the human experience. The group focuses on works by diverse playwrights whose perspectives align with Encounter’s ethos of intercultural storytelling.

Term 2 will be facilitated by author, activist and speaker Sisonke Msimang.

Cost: $5 per session, $20 for all five

About the Program

Love contemporary plays? Join us to read and discuss bold works that celebrate diverse voices and the human experience.

These facilitated sessions will involve reading and discussing scripts aimed to spark deep conversation and reflection.

  • Location: 14 Coolgardie Street, Subiaco

    Street parking is available for those using cars. If using the train, alight at Subiaco Train Station and take the 97 Subiaco Shuttle to the corner of Rokeby and Heytesbury. From that stop, it’s a 3 minute walk to the property. Alternatively, from Daglish Train Station, it’s a 20 minute walk to reach the property.

  • Cost: $5 per session

  • Accessibility: Please note these sessions take place as lounge room sessions. The house is wheelchair accessible however the bathroom has a narrow doorway.

Places will be limited and registration is essential. Early registration is encouraged. Please note you must be 18 years or over to register.
